Founders Campaign

To restore the River so that it is healthy for current and future generations, Save The River has launched a fundraising campaign - From the Founders to the Future... a Campaign to Enhance River Protection - to raise $700,000 to expand Save The River's programs, office space and endowment.

Over the past 30 years, Save The River has seen great success as we have grown into the leading environmental advocate on the Upper St. Lawrence River. From the Founders to the Future... A Campaign to Enhance River Protection will enable Save The River to continue our growth and strengthen our efforts to protect this amazing River. Read more about Save The River's accomplishments and strategic plan goals.

The Founders to the Future campaign goal is to raise $700,000 for three purposes:

  • Building Expansion & Renovation - Save the River's current staff are crowded under our tiny roof on Riverside Drive in Clayton and addition of staff is impossible in the current facility, which is bursting at its seams. The campaign fundraising will allow Save The River to expand our facility and renovate the existing historic structure to make it more energy efficient. Learn more about the Building Expansion & Renovation on our Building Blog.

  • Program Expansion - Save The River plans to add 2 1/2 additional staff members in the next three to five years to address the many challenges facing the River. New staff will allow us to expand our education program, fight sewer overflows and increase our outreach efforts beyond the Thousand Island communities.

  • Legacy Fund - We strongly feel that there will always be a need for Saver the river to watch, protect, and promote the River. The campaign will raise funds for the beginning of a Legacy Fund for Save The River to increase the organization's financial stability and reduce reliance on external funding streams.
