February 2nd marks World Wetland Day, an internationally recognized holiday to celebrate the protection and restoration of wetlands around the world.
Here on the St. Lawrence, wetlands play a vital roll in River ecology. Iconic fish species, like muskellunge, return to the same wetlands where they were born to release their eggs. Migrating birds use places like Blind Bay as landing pads on their journeys. Wetlands are necessary pillars to animal lifecycles and for preserving what we love about the St. Lawrence River.
