Save The River visited Cornwall, ON last week to attend the 31st Annual River Symposium hosted by our friends at the River Institute.
This three-day event included speakers like Abraham Francis, who gave the opening Haudenosaunee’s Ohén:ton Karihatéhkwen (Thanksgiving Address or “words that come before all else”) and Dr. Sapna Sharma, who talked about changing ice coverage on the Great Lakes and its affect on ecology and people.
Between presentations, we connected with our Canadian partners, like Data Stream and Blue Fish Canada. The health of the St. Lawrence is an international concern and we’re excited to see all the efforts that follow this symposium.
Full recordings of the River Symposium are available on the River Institute’s Youtube and see our short recap on Instagram and Facebook.
