Executive Director John Peach Resigns

November 15, 2024 by STR_Admin

Save The River Upper St. Lawrence Riverkeeper Executive Director, John “Thumper” Peach, announces his resignation from the position effective December 31st, 2024.

John first joined Save The River as a member of the Board of Directors in 2000. He became Board President in 2004 and continued to serve as Treasurer and on the Executive Committee until 2018, at which time John accepted the position of Executive Director.

During his five-year tenure, John made substantial contributions to Save The River and its mission. He expanded the shoal marking program by recruiting more volunteers, initiated critical PFAS testing, oversaw the removal of thousands of pounds of trash through Trash Free River, and mobilized a new base of life-long River stewards. In 2021 when Customs and Border Protection announced plans to build a new facility in a sensitive wetland, John was instrumental in bringing together a coalition to save Blind Bay.

In a statement about John’s resignation, Save The River Board President Rick Gregware said, “John has been an invaluable asset to Save The River. He tirelessly advocated for the River and his visionary leadership is an inspiration. We are grateful for his unwavering dedication to our mission.”

With Gratitude,

Save The River Board and Staff
