Save The River Launches Battery Collection Pilot Program

You are here: Home / Sustainability / Save The River Launches Battery Collection Pilot Program

February 18, 2025 by STR_Admin

February 18th is World Battery Day! In celebration of this holiday, Save The River is launching an ongoing Battery Collection Pilot Program.

Here’s what we’re accepting:

  • Single-Use Alkaline & Lithium (AA, AAA, C, D, 9-Volt)
  • Rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium
  • Lithium Ion
  • Nickel Metal Hydride
  • Power Tool Batteries
  • Degraded Batteries

Batteries can be dropped-off in a bucket outside the STR office side door anytime.

Some friendly reminders about drop-off:

  • “Dead” batteries can still spark! STR keeps sand in the collection bucket to prevent unwanted conductivity between terminals.
  • Help us by placing your batteries loose in the bucket – do not keep the batteries in a plastic bag or box.
  • Go the extra mile and tape each end of the battery so the terminals can’t touch.
