See the St. Lawrence in a new way

Floating Classroom Camps with Save The River offer students the opportunity to observe the St. Lawrence and learn about the River’s ecology during summer. 

The 2025 Camp dates are below. The cost is $10 per student, and registration is required. All camps are 9AM to 3:30PM and are limited to 34 students. Students must bring their own lunch. Drop-off and pick-up locations vary and check-in begins at 8:30AM.

Camp Dates & Activities

Grade 1-5 Camps

MAC Nature Center | July 28

Departing from the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center on Wellesley Island, students will launch into Eel Bay aboard a field trip boat and spend the morning observing the St. Lawrence River.

Students will eat their lunch onboard the field trip boat, and afternoon programing will continue at the Nature Center with ROV demonstrations with the US Coast Guard.

Check-in is at 9AM at Clayton Island Tours. Pick-up is at the MACNC on Wellesley Island at 3:30PM.

Antique Boat Museum | August 14

Join STR at the Antique Boat Museum for a day of boat and fishing activities. Students will have the opportunity to ride Zipper, and rotate through games design for students in 1st – 5th Grade. 

Check-in and pick-up is at the ABM in Clayton.

Middle & High School Camps

T. I. Biological Station | July 17

Join Save The River on a visit to the Thousand Islands Biological Station (TIBS)! Departing from Clayton Island Tours (CIT), students will participate in rotating lessons and presentations with Dr. John Farrell and his students on Governors Island.

After students eat their lunch on a guided boat tour, we will return to Frink Park for more afternoon activities.

Check-in is at Clayton Island Tours at 8:30AM and pick-up is at STR’s office in downtown Clayton at 3:30PM. 

MAC Nature Center | August 4

This Floating Classroom camp is geared towards older students. At the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center on Wellesley Island, Save The River and SLELO PRISM will host activities and presentations about the ecology of the Upper St. Lawrence River and the challenges it faces.

Check-in is at 8:30AM at Clayton Island Tours. Pick-up is at the MACNC on Wellesley Island at 3:30PM.

Save The River is a 501(c)3 and was designated the Upper St. Lawrence Riverkeeper in 2004 and is a member of the International Waterkeeper Alliance. The Waterkeeper Alliance is the world’s fastest growing environmental movement, with more than 300+ local Waterkeepers patrolling rivers, lakes and coastal waterways on 6 continents.
