Following a letter sent by Senator Chuck Schumer, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reversed their earlier decision to exclude the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA) property from consideration. In a response to Senator Schumer sent last week, CBP has now agreed to consider the Cloverleaf in the Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) as a viable option for their new facility.
We are grateful to Senator Schumer and his team for their unwavering support protect St. Lawrence shoreline from harmful development. Our River community demonstrated that by working together, we can create real change. Thank you to those who are tirelessly working with us, sending letters to CBP, contacting local leaders, and staying invested and informed on Save Blind Bay
The fight isn’t over yet, and we will continue to work with our partners at the Thousand Islands Land Trust and the Save Blind Bay Coalition to ensure the protection of sensitive habitat along the River.
