Save The River® Upper St. Lawrence Riverkeeper®
Save The River is a non-profit, member-based environmental organization whose mission is to preserve and protect the ecological integrity of the Upper St. Lawrence River through advocacy, education and research.
Sign-ups for Save The River’s annual Trash Free River Days Cleanup are open! Volunteers from across the Thousand Islands region will be joining STR’s efforts to keep trash off our shorelines and out of the St. Lawrence River.
River Days is split into two sessions:
Friday, July 25 = neighborhood cleanups led by registered team captains
Saturday, July 26 = STR-led cleanups at the following locations: Wilson’s Beach, Cape Vincent; Multiple sites in Clayton; T. I. Park, Wellesley Island; Otter Creek, Alexandria Bay; and Chippewa Bay. More sites are pending and will be added to the schedule soon!
Interested volunteers can go to trashfreeriver.org/cleanup-dates/ to sign-up. Everyone who pre-registers will receive a free Save The River Volunteer T-Shirt.
Save The River supplies all equipment, including trashbags, grabbers, gloves, and buckets at each cleanup. Volunteers are encouraged to wear proper shoes and prepare to get a little dirty. Hundreds of pounds of trash are removed from the St. Lawrence thanks to Trash Free River volunteers and STR expects another fun weekend of caring for the River!
