A River Conversation with Michael Bacon

You are here: Home / Latest News / A River Conversation with Michael Bacon

September 19, 2025 by STR_Admin

Emmy-winning composer and Americana musician, Michael Bacon of the Bacon Bros., sat down with Save The River to talk about why he loves visiting the St. Lawrence River.

“The River looks great,” Michael said. “Whatever you guys are doing keep doing it.”

Michael came to the interview directly following a 2.5 hour boat tour around Wellesley Island. He mentioned granite cliffs in the Narrows, between Wellesley and Murray Isle, being particularly stunning.

“We just got off the River filming a PBS show called Storytellers with a couple of guys from the South,” Michael mentioned. “We parked on these cliffs and we just hung out there, did the interview, and played some songs on the boat.”

Michael lives near our partners at the Hudson Riverkeeper, an organization with ties to Pete Seeger and a particular inspiration to Michael. “Pete Seeger, my idol, was a Riverkeeper and the Hudson Riverkeeper really cleaned it up. Now people go swimming in it.”

Thank you Michael Bacon for sharing your music and stories with Save The River and the River Community! We are incredibly honored to share your love for the St. Lawerence and are hopeful for your return to the Clayton Opera House next year.
