Save The River Upper St. Lawrence RiverkeeperⓇ is pleased to announce the launch of ESF’s Friends of the Thousand Islands Biological Station’s webpage. Save The River (STR) and Thousand Islands Biological Station (TIBS) have been working together for many years on environmental issues affecting the Upper St. Lawrence River. Dr. John Farrell, director of TIBS, was a long-time member of STR’s Board and served as Board President for two years.

 

Save The River has been a partner with TIBS in their muskie research, sponsoring the Dan Tack Muskie Catch and Release Tournament. Hundreds of legal-sized muskie have been returned to the River after being weighed and measured by area fishermen and guides, contributing to TIBS’s knowledge of this apex predator of the River.

 

Joining their Friends program will support the critical research done in the middle of the River at their well-known research center
